Kritjánsson: colors from Iceland

27 year old designer Boas Kritjánsson, trained at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts and at the Aashion Academy of Antwerp, set up his own label in 2008. He will be presenting 8045, his very first collection for spring 2010.

Light, somewhat naive, these wonderful knitwear pieces in pastel colors where ispired by "the light and colours in Iceland, [which] have a vastness due to all the open space that is easy to observe", says the artist. "The low sun and the simple flora also make for very long gradients. This means that there aren’t really outstanding colours, they are all part of a system"

The garments are built in blocks, each one from a single cotton thread, joined together in the knit, leaving no seams.

The photographer is Damien Blottière.
