2000 Postings!

I've just realized that I've gone past the 2000 postings mark!
That's about 500 entries a year, which, considering the little spare time I have, is not really that bad.

And as for my followers and visitors, the stats show a nice daily number as well. What that means is that more and more gentlemen are becoming interested in changing the dull, conventional, male-fashion standards.

I've been following Michael's male-fashion-freedom blog for a while now, enjoying it very much.

As you may see, he really does what he preaches.

Something I really love about his weblogs is that, just like myself, he's no model!

He is no petite, skinny, teen-age "femiman".

He's rather a bit big of frame, in his mid-thirties (?), and has a beard ... showing us that fashion freedom is for all of us guys, regardless of our ages or body-shapes.

Switcheroo

This Canadian photographer's project features some of the most fascinating images I've ever stumbled upon.

In her undertaking, she doesn't only question our society's silly dress conventions, but to a certain degree she also challenges traditional gender roles.

I like the fact she doesn't use models, but just plain, regular people dressed in a regular way, and then, voilà!, the switcheroo works its magic:

1. She wears his clothes:

Nothing special about that. Females nowadays often dress in a quite masculine way.

But it does bring me to the conclusion that the ladies, no matter how beautiful, look just as dull as the gents in those grey, boring clothes.

2. He wears her clothes:

Now we're talking.

It turns out that some guys actually do look good wearing their spouses clothing!

Admittedly not all of them.

After all, the apparel's not their size, and the style not necessarily befits their particular body-shape.

On the other hand, many actually look better in what we arbitrarily call "female" garments than in their own clothes...

Anyways. It makes you wonder:

Wouldn't it be a good idea to perk up our wardrobes with at least a few dresses, some skirts, or at any rate some more colorful stuff?
Shouldn't we switch clothings with our partners more often?

We are living exiting times in many senses: technologies allow us to stay in touch with people from around the word and humanity even starts reaching for distant planets.

When it comes to gender, we have gone a long way into accepting our ample, rich sexual diversity that goes way beyond the traditional gender binary: after many centuries of stereotypes, people finally start presenting themselves as bi-gender, non-binary, genderless, genderfluid.

Even cis-gender people, i.e. those falling into the conventional ”male” and “female” categories, are acting, even unconsciously, in ways far removed from traditional patterns: Ladies are becoming more assertive, while gentlemen are allowed to show their emotions and display their “feminine” side.

All this slow but steady modifications in our conduct, which I consider to be extremely healthy and honest, cannot help but being expressed in the way we dress.

Ladies wear pants and “power suits”, while the creativity, the flair, the colors, the design, which used to be reserved for the girls only, are finally reaching the menswear department. Males don’t have to settle for the same old boring, gray, stuff.

Skirts, heels, jewelry and flower-patterns in bright colors for men are not uncommon any more.

WARNING: It’s not a blog about "cross-dressing". That's a word that hopefully will one day vanish from our vocabulary as everyone dresses the way they feel suit and that's that!
