Bravo for Jeffrey!

Jeffrey Williams

Young and talented designer Jeffrey Williams became the first African American ever to win one of America's main fashion Reality Shows.

In fact, he won Bravo's The Fashion Show Second Season.

Born into a family of 12 siblings the Seattle-born Jeffrey, even as a child dreamed of becoming a fashion designer. His supportive mother passed away of breast cancer in 2004, shortly before he was accepted to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

A Real House Wife

Real Housewives of Atlanta's newest cast member, hairstylist Lawrence Washington, is turning Bravo Cable reality TV series upside down with his stylish and original choice of clothing, particularly his unavoidable high heels.

His fashion choices have been labelled as "cross-dressing", understandably enough. But maybe it's about time for us to reconsider those terms. Why can a woman wear whatever she pleases, while a man wearing heels and makeup is perceived as a cross-dresser? May it not be that some of us guys are simply starting to be more honest and genuine, presenting ourselves in public as who we really are, with all those feminine traits we all conceal within ourselves, rather that the way conventions dictate a man should look like?

For me at least, Lawrence is no "cross-dresser". He is a New Male, so he definitely belongs here in this blog!

The winner of Australia's Project Runway, 25-year-old Anthony Capon is already well known worldwide as a ladies designer. But he does a great job as a haberdasher too!

I love all these pieces, particularly the delicate nuances, the different textures and transparencies that give the monochromatic getups a large palette of shades, as it were.

As for the designer himself, well, what can I say: he does as he preaches!

More often than not, he looks much better than his models...

Footloose and Fashion-Free!

We are living exiting times in many senses: technologies allow us to stay in touch with people from around the word and humanity even starts reaching for distant planets.

When it comes to gender, we have gone a long way into accepting our ample, rich sexual diversity that goes way beyond the traditional gender binary: after many centuries of stereotypes, people finally start presenting themselves as bi-gender, non-binary, genderless, genderfluid.

Even cis-gender people, i.e. those falling into the conventional ”male” and “female” categories, are acting, even unconsciously, in ways far removed from traditional patterns: Ladies are becoming more assertive, while gentlemen are allowed to show their emotions and display their “feminine” side.

All this slow but steady modifications in our conduct, which I consider to be extremely healthy and honest, cannot help but being expressed in the way we dress.

Ladies wear pants and “power suits”, while the creativity, the flair, the colors, the design, which used to be reserved for the girls only, are finally reaching the menswear department. Males don’t have to settle for the same old boring, gray, stuff.

Skirts, heels, jewelry and flower-patterns in bright colors for men are not uncommon any more.

WARNING: It’s not a blog about "cross-dressing". That's a word that hopefully will one day vanish from our vocabulary as everyone dresses the way they feel suit and that's that!
