Frilly things

Weel, well: at last a refreshing way of spicing up a pair of pants: frills!

They were introduced by El Delgado Buil, an innovating Catalan fashion studio.

A great getup for Tom in the latest issue of Interview magazine. Master Templer, now the publication's Creative Director, styled him for Bottega Veneta's spring 2010 collection in bright colors... matching his hair!

Something that appears to be a sarong com'pletes the outfit.

Lore for the modern man

The latest issue of Spanish webzine FUXYZ published this editorial featuring Alberto Echevarrieta's spring 2010 collection, which he called "Sinfolklore" ('folkless'). The Bilbao-based designer adverts about the gradual loss of popular traditions caused by the inescapable, powerful, and unifying effects of globalization.

The stylist, Pablo Pérez Sanmartín, chose garments from Echebarrieta's label, Alberto Sinpatron, featuring models Antonio Mingot and Luca Guarini groomed by Lucia Pando and shot by Markus Rico.

The pieces may not be folksy at all, but they do have a pristine, essential, grass root quality to them, from the beautiful palette of nature inspired hues, to the elegant lines of the Greek-like tunics and the nostalgic review of frilly shirts.

Until The Real Thing Comes Along...

In spite of his youth, Croatian Damir Doma, a graduate from the Munich and Berlin Fashion Schools, has become one of the leading German designers. His brand, founded as recently as 2006, is already one of the most anticipated menswear labels, has he has become a major influence in the fashion world .

The effect of his drapings, over-long and over-layed garments can be felt in even the most conservative and well established couturiers.

A very refreshing influence, bearing witness that things are slowly changing.

Got my crest, got my vest: all I need now is...

For all of you, modern-day Samurais, Crusaders and chivalric warriors of the streets: young designer Kim Choong-Wilkins, a recent graduate from the Royal College of Art, has already devised the emblems of your knighthood.

Bodybound, his spring 2010 collection, includes beautiful Katama like trousers and skirts, close-knitted, laminated or studded armour-like tops with wide shoulders, Ninja cloaks... Only the sword -or nihontō- is still missing... and, yes! Of course! I nearly forgot: the lady in peril.

Baratashvilli: Shall we dance?

Comfortable, cozy, yet stylish and sensual, this spring 2010 collection by Georgy Baratashvilli seems to have drawn it's inspiration from the gym or the dance studio.

Stark and quite sultry pieces in their asexuality, built in soft fabrics (most likely elastisized), in shades of gray, beige, and blue.

The details in leather, raw-edged linen, include some useless but attractive bands around arms and legs.

Shall I point out the beauty of the strapless-sandals? I haven't seen them elsewhere. One wonders how they keep in place (you can take a closer look at http://www.georgybaratashvili.com/)

Spring (2010) is in the air

Oh, springtime, colourful and bright! Just as this editorial by Guy Hipwell: Thomas S. and Kim Galilee have been styled in brilliant, striking, and, let's face it, quite funky garments, and shot by Holly Falconer. The pics appeared at the Fashion156 the British webzine.

Don't ask me what this garment is called (feathered jacket? hairy tunic?)

I simply love the results!

It's “Jogging Collection” for 2010 features sporty clothing displaying a wide variety of prints, including flowers and geometricals. Accesories are colourful (and large), while sneakers (by Nike and Andre Crews) are bright and funky. The results may be a bit crazy, but lets admit they are also fun.

Gray, somber, slender creatures march along the runway in Gareth Pugh's spring 2010 collection seemingly designed for the gray-haired new man with the ash-covered face.
