Grunge in Dress

Kurt Cobain

I recently came across a few really cool images of the legendary Nirvana lead vocalist wearing dresses.
As a self-appointed feminist, Cobain was not shy in showing his feminine side.
“Wearing a dress shows I can be as feminine as I want”, he said in this interview.

American singer and songwriter Christopher Owens, lead singer of the now broke up band Girls, is launching his first solo album this month.

What better way of promoting one's work than being featured in a a major mag, wearing beautiful pieces of clothing!

The Madox Affaire

Madox, the artistic name for Breslau-born singer Marcin Majewski, caused quite a stir with his recent video for the song "High on you", which shows what seems to be an act of orgiastic indulgence around a bathtub...

Madox's big break arrived through Poland's got Talent in 2009 with a cover of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi.

The starlet, who's now living in Paris, owes his fame, and also all the polemics surrounding him, not only to his singing and to the erotic contents of his new vid, but also to his unique looks which, as with other performing artists, bring out a and creative and distinctive personality. Just check out these pics!

Not Just a Number

Autumn/ Winter 2010 Menswear Collection

Just a few of my favorite getups from Vincent Dagostino's campaign for the ongoing season.
The designer's background as a rock musician can still be traced.

Rock 'n Heels

It's often the performing artists, even to a greater extent that designers themselves, who set up new, adventuresome fashion standards. Think about all those bands back in the seventies with their long hairs and psychedelic looks!  It's thank to them that we enjoy the current approval of earrings, weird hairdos, and other  unconventional looks.

To this day, entertainers are still the main trend-setters. It is them who came up with all those extreme extravagances such as piercings, tattoos and other body-modifications (most of which I personally abhor), that we now accept, or at least tolerate.

Anyways.. the charismatic Justin Tranter, vocalist from Semi Precious Weapons, one of the hottest bans around, questions all conventions both in their gigs and in his personal life: He shows up wearing dresses, high heels, and heavy makeup.

Check out the Band's site for more details:

I took the pics from Life Magazine:
