Blanc Sandals by Karl

Blanc for Gold Dot

Among the most beautiful men sandals I've seen recently, I must count Blanc's Emi espadrilles, designed by this rising Philippine designer who also happens to be one of my favorite bloggers.

The shoes come in unique tones:
shiny black, gold and silver

They can be ordered on-line at Gold Dot for incredibly low prizes: 995 Philippine Pesos which, at the present-day currency exchange, amounts to no more than US $ 25 ( some 18 Euros).

For those of us who are not hand-bag guys, Karl has also designed an expandable envelope-clutch (above, adorned with manly nuts and bolts)... The bags match the footwear, of course.

I'd have no problem in wearing his Esmée flats also (seen above), a shoe he's designed for the ladies.
After all, I've seen him wearing them!
But then... I have small feet.
These, alas, don't come in the larger sizes.

Ladies Man

May 2008 Issue

Photography Wee Khim
Styling Sharon Tulasidas
Models Carlos, Daniela

I just came across this wonderful edit, published a few years ago, in which a female model, Daniela, is cast to display menswear. The results are magnificent, but not too surprising: she looks gorgeous of course, but not too far removed from what a beautiful lady could actually wear in the street without being labelled a "tomboy" or even "loosing her femininity" by our modern standards.

What does come as a surprise is that a male model (Carlos, above) is called to display clothes that our society still considers "womanswear"; classic black dress, stilettos and all.

Is he loosing any of his "masculinity"? If so... why? Who decides who gets to wear what?

Let's point out that this edit was published a couple of years before the big break of Andrej Pejic, the celebrity-femboy-model who's pioneering the trend: males modelling female clothing... and eventually wearing it themselves?

Daniela does look great in "male" clothing, one should admit...

Joey Update

This is my friend Joey Ma.

My followers surely know him already, as he has frequently been featured here, so let me introduce him to the newcomers.

I consider him my friend, in spite of not having ever met him in person, since we've exchanged several e-mails, share a common interest in fashion-freedom for men, and, most of all, because I enjoy so much his daily postings in which he displays his wonderful styles, that his image has practically become a part of my own household.

You shouldn't miss his postings either!

I'm always amazed at his inextinguishable creativity and also, let's face it, a bit jealous of the sheer size, variety, and quality of his wardrobe.

For instance: check out the Gareth Pugh skirt-pants above or the Tata Christiane Jacket and Pier Atkinson hat below:

He has also published several "street fashion" pics of himself out in the "real" world.
The same getup as above:

Pejic for Schön!

Allure
Schön! Magazine

Styling Kyle Anderson

I found this Pejic edit particularly pleasant.

Although the styling, by conventional standards, could be considered feminine to the utmost degree, he is presented bare-breasted in some pics, making it visible that this is definitely a man, albeit an extremely beautiful, elegant, refined, stylish, and, yes, very feminine one.

Paradigms are finally evolving, I guess... Sehr, sehr schön!
