In the Woods

Lost in the Woods

Editorial by Ronan Percher

Ronan Percher has recently completed his training at Les Arts Décoratifs de Paris. This is his end-year presentation.

Just as Meterlink's Mélisande, Percher's heroes got lost in the woods brandishing extremely long hair.
In fact, the larger-than-life wigs are the dominating feature in these images. But let's not overlook  other interesting details, such as the sole-less sandals (let's call them that). Pretty impractical, to be sure, but nice! Mélisande would have loved them!

Cable Guy

Model Ryan Jacob Trufant

This untitled/ uncredited editorial just appeared in one of my favorite blogs: Morphosis

Entwined in a net of cables and wires, this pierced, blue haired punk (with matching nails and not-overdone make up) appears like a beau in distress waiting for his lady to rescue him from his technological tangle.

He definitely belongs in this blog!

Dress the part

A beautiful male dress by Rodartea Californian brand of clothing and accessories founded by Kate and Laura Mulleavy

The sisters, who have dressed many celebrities including Michelle Obama,  created this piece for last year's spring/summer collection.

Not only a magnificent design, but also a quiet convincing statement in favor of dresses for men.

My source was:

X & Y

"I am someone who has X and Y chromosomes, and I utilize them both."

New York supermodel Andre J, enjoys wearing skirts, dresses, and other supposedly "feminine" garments, by traditional standards at least.

In a recent interview, he states that he doesn't consider himself as a "cross-dresser", only  an extremely fashion-forward individual.

As the world still has to adjust itself to these New Males, he is often mistaken for a transsexual... in spite of his beard!

"It was shocking at first. Now it’s entertaining. People insist on finding some way to categorize. It’s not about me, it’s about them."

Street Fashion: US, France, Germany

Street Fashion at it's best: not models on the runways, but rather normal guys on the streets displaying alternative fashions. After all, we as consumers are the real trend setters!

The guy above is not only wearing a nice, classic denim-skirt, but also a ruffled top. I'd say the results are quite stylish and balanced. He doesn't look as a "cross-dresser" to me, just as a dude in a skirt.

Anyways, he was quoted as feeling "liberated from social anxiety and the fear of what negative things other people may think of me. By being free from the fear of criticism, I will be more empowered in many areas of my life"

Good for him!

As for these guys, they look quite macho in their very manly kilts, don't you think?

The same cannot be said about Richie Nickel below. He seems to be intentionally challenging conventional gender stereotypes by wearing a pair of beautiful Balenciaga heels.

Another such fashionista: Jean Paul Paula in the streets of Paris

Last, but not least, these German kids most probably shouldn't be called "free-stylers". My bet is that they are wearing their sister's skirts just as a naughty prank.
At all events, they seem to be enjoying themselves. And, who knows? Having felt the comfort and freedom of wearing a skirt, as grownups they might become less judgemental about men wearing unusual garments, or they might even consider including some skirts as part of their own wardrobe.

Givenchy

These are just a few samples of the splendid shirts proposed by Riccardo Tisci for the upcoming season. You can check their website for more designs. I'm not really into "animal prints", buy some designs are really worth exploring.

Flowers and glamour in Mabille's recent show. Beautiful gladiator sandals were the foot gear of choice, as were daisies everywhere from accessories to hair dresses.

Boy in Milano

Favorite fashion blogger Bryanboy on his way to the Dolce&Gabbana Menswear show in Milano, wearing, of course, a D&G coin necklace.

Bryanboy at Dolce & Gabbana Menswear 20th Year Anniversary, Milan.

Prior to the show, his beautiful lady friend needed a change, so he politely escorted her to her hotel, he explains. That's when these pics were taken.

Both look gorgeous. He in his dotted suit, she in the glossy-tartan long skirt.

Why did she need to change? Girls, girls... !
