In a comfortable mood

I'm not really into "drop crotch" pants. I personally find most of them a real fashion nightmare. The results are even worse when they come in cotton or, even worse, elastizices cotton. You end up looking as if you were wearing diapers!

But in comes Rodger's good design and... I might even want to try one of these! New York based label presents a domestic but elegant collection, with comfy tanks, tees and sweats. The discreet color range in shades of black and gray, the overlaying, and the sleeveless shirts, all add up to a sense of relaxed minimalism. Ideal for almost any activity (probably not for cocktail parties), but specially for staying home, relax, and maybe practise some Yoga.

Sober Dominican

New York based designer José Durán, born in Dominican Republic, combines vigour, energy and virility, drawn with strong, broad shoulder lines, rigid textures, and heavy boots, with softness and grace, delicate drapery and light fabrics. The results are impressive and somewhat mysterious.

And then the color palette, khaki, gray, black, contributes to give the whole collection an intriguing, austere, sandy ethniticity. Is it bachata or the Bronx?

For all of you, modern-day Samurais, Crusaders and chivalric warriors of the streets: young designer Kim Choong-Wilkins, a recent graduate from the Royal College of Art, has already devised the emblems of your knighthood.

Bodybound, his spring 2010 collection, includes beautiful Katama like trousers and skirts, close-knitted, laminated or studded armour-like tops with wide shoulders, Ninja cloaks... Only the sword -or nihontō- is still missing... and, yes! Of course! I nearly forgot: the lady in peril.

Clayton Evans... and the living is easy...

Light, loose fitting and ovesized garments give Clayton Evans' 2010 spring collection for Complex Gepmetries the impression of ease and freedom of movement, yet along svelte, elegant lines. A crossbreed between your Tai-Chi gear and your favorite pajamas, yet with a touch refined grace and style.

The pieces are interchangeable, overlayable and mixable, not anly among themselves, but also with the rest of the anyone's wardrobe. They can even be worn, one guesses from the pics, by either sex.

Who could ask for anything more?

Speaks Locking that satin doll...

Toledo-born designer and photographer Ana González infuses colorful hues and prints to her designs for her firm's latest collecion (Ana Lockin). Spring is in my mistress eye, no doubt about that!

"Pleasure, explains the designer, produces a relief of pressures (...) any kind of antidote, in this case fashion, even without a reason, can supply vital, emotional and sense relief". No guilt in impulsive shopping, then? Well, that's an unheard-of sales-campaign. Anyways, I'd sure feel pleasure wearing Ana's flowered jackets.

Apart from the vivid flower-patterns, the bright colors, just plain by themselves, can also be a valid remedy against daily stress and pressures, especially if they are intense enbough, and if we are talking about silk organza and satin.

An if the weather gets too warm for flowered jackets or deep-red & fuchsia organza coats, translucid fabrics will do the magic.

Prada sails the ocean blue...

Johnny Angel appears in French Vougue Magazine flirtatiously wearing a sailor's cap and displaying the new peacock-like shoes from Prada.

One wonders: is he trying to set a new trend for crewmen uniforms? Well, who knows, it might catch on.

'Round midnight... skateboarding!

Traditional, Manhattan-based chain of luxury department stores Barneys New York suggests skirts as a legitimate garment for male skateboarders.

Not only do the light fabrics of those skirts, sarongs and togas look great as they flutter in the breeze, giving the wearer the aspect of a dark ghost-like figure gliding misteriously along the streets. Skirts also seem to be quite comfortable for that purpose (provided, I guess, we're not talking about hobble-skirts!)

As an evidence of that claim, the well-known retailers have produced this video. Nowadays, they definitely carry more than just their cut-rate men's suits of the sixties!

Last night.. in Spain

Androgynous, stylish, pop-music starlet Craig Template was shot by Mark O'Flaherty, and styled by Giles Pearson for the Spanish magazine NEO2. Quite in accordance to the publication's homeland, he was crowned with some beautiful garment resembling a "mantilla", (an embroidered veil worn at mass by Spanish women)

Ambiguity is nothing new to the singer who's bringing back a refreshing 80s-like sound to pop, "husha-la-las" and all. (For instance: Last Night, Darling Dearest, and Germs):

Male leggings, long or short, worn as outerware or under shorts or skirts, in black, in white, in discreet shades of gray, but also in bright colors... they are all a frequent in runways nowadays.

An extremely comfortable and versatile garment, I can tell from my own experience, they also look stunning (provided your legs are in proper shape...)
